Express Entry

Express Entry is available to applicants in the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program and the Canadian Experience Class are the categories in which you could apply for Express Entry.

How Express Entry works

For Express Entry candidates the maximum amount of points to obtain is 1200. Some factors that affect the points earned are:

  • Education
  • Language proficiency (English and French)
  • Work experience
  • Age
  • Relatives in Canada

There are different ways to improve a comprehensive ranking system score.

* The Provincial Nomination is one of the most relevant factors in terms of points when applying to express entry

Express Entry is a system used to manage applications for permanent residence from skilled workers.

Step 1: Find out if you’re eligible

Step 2: Get your documents ready

You need documents, such as language test results, to show that you’re eligible for Express Entry. Some documents take a long time to get.

Step 3: Submit your profile

An Express Entry profile is where you provide information about yourself.

Applications are placed in a pool of candidates. You’ll be ranked in the Express Entry pool using a points-based system. Your score is based on the information in your profile.

Step 4: Receive an invitation and apply for permanent residence

For Express Entry candidates the maximum amount of points to obtain is 1200.
