Portugal Gets a New Visa Application Center from Canada

As part of its commitment to improve processing time and customer service, the Canadian government announced the opening of a new visa application center (VAC) in Lisbon, Portugal. As a result of this expansion, IRCC’s VAC network now covers 163 sites in 110 countries.

Private companies have contracts with the Canadian government to operate VACs. Its main duties include providing documents required for visa applications, sending them securely to IRCC offices, and providing biometric collection services. Service professionals at VACs can be reached by phone, email, or in person to verify completeness of applications and answer questions in local languages.

Stronger personal ties developed between Portugal and Canada over time, with the support of the growing Portuguese Canadian community. As a result, IRCC remains committed to making it easier for Portuguese citizens to travel to Canada. The establishment of a new visa application center in Lisbon will provide greater freedom and accessibility to visit, study or work in Canada. And it increase opportunities for social, economic and cultural exchanges that will benefit both countries.

Applying for a Canadian visa involves filling out the appropriate application form and providing necessary documents such as a valid passport and proof of funds. Once delivered to the nearest visa center or embassy, you may be required to attend an interview or provide biometric data. Once the process is completed, you will receive notification of the visa decision.
