Canada’s Jaw-Dropping Move: 13,500 New Citizens in a Week!

In Ottawa on May 29, 2023, Citizenship Week gave a chance to commemorate the importance of Canadian citizenship and welcome new citizens.

The Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, Sean Fraser, is pleased to declare that within the last week, Canada held 105 citizenship ceremonies and welcomed more than 13,500 individuals as new Canadians throughout all provinces and territories. The quantity surpassed the typical number of newly arrived Canadians received every week during the year by almost twice.

Minister Fraser played an active role in ceremonies celebrating the acquisition of citizenship in Halifax and Vancouver. He extended a warm welcome to new Canadians and highlighted Canada’s long-standing tradition of aiding those in need, along with the various duties that come with Canadian citizenship.

The ceremonies for citizenship are highly significant events, carrying great emotional and symbolic importance for new citizens, their dear ones, and all the fortunate attendees.
