IRCC Spills the Beans on Express Entry ITAs for 2023!

IRCC provides an updated information on the proportion of Invitations to Apply (ITAs) they plan to distribute. Chiefly to individuals from the six eligible groups for Express Entry category-based draws throughout the rest of 2023.

Canada’s immigration department has supplied the Globe and Mail with the following statistics in their shared data. Regarding the ITAs that are projected to be granted in 2023,

  • Around 28% to 31% of ITAs will be granted to individuals who qualify under the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) field.
  • Between 11% and 15% of Invitation to Apply (ITAs) will be given to individuals who demonstrate proficiency in the French language.
  • Between 9% to 12% of ITAs will be granted to individuals in the Healthcare field.
  • Approximately 3% to 4% of the Invitations to Apply (ITAs) will be granted to candidates applying for occupations in the trades.
  • Approximately 1% to 2% of the remaining ITAs will be allocated to individuals who qualify for Express Entry draws based on their occupation in the Transport and Agriculture sectors.

What do Express Entry Category-Based Draws refer to?

Express Entry category-based draws are an innovative method of choosing candidates for Canadian immigration. Basically it focuses on targeted economic objectives across the country. Canada has issued a total of 10,900 invitations to candidates in all six categories since the first category-based draw took place in late June 2023.

In preparation for 2023, these six Express Entry categories have been carefully selected. Basically following extensive public consultation with stakeholders throughout Canada. The final decision on these categories was based on labor market predictions.  Significantly the valuable input provided by IRCC partners.
