Citizenship

Canada offers citizenship in 3 ways:
  1. Being born on Canadian Land, airspace, waters, and Canadian registered ships and aircraft are considered citizens by birth.
  • The child will still be a citizen regardless of the parent’s status in Canada.
  • If parents were in Canada in a diplomat job, then the child will not be granted Citizenship.
 
  1. A child born outside Canada to a legal or biological parent who is a Canadian citizen will be considered Citizen as well.
  • Adopted Children are also considered the same as other children born outside.
  • The child should renounce Canadian Citizenship if does not want it.
 
  1. Naturalized Citizens are those who came to Canada and become permanent residents then transition to Canadian Citizens.
  • Must be at least 18 years old and hold PR Status.
  • Must have resided in Canada as a PR for 3 years (1,095 days) in the past 5 years.
  • Must have filed income tax for the last 3 years.

  • Pass the Citizenship Test
  • Take the Oath of Citizenship
