The Canadian government is dedicated to ensuring that newcomers get the necessary support to successfully integrate into the Canadian economy and their new environment.
The government just launched the National Settlement and Resettlement Funding Call for Proposals to finance numerous service provider organizations across Canada, excluding Quebec. These organizations are vital in offering essential services to newcomers, and the funding agreements will extend for five years.
This year’s call for proposals emphasizes the important areas of settlement and resettlement services. It includes investments in truth and reconciliation goals, establishing a Francophone integration pathway for French-speaking newcomers outside Quebec, and enhancing programming and funding for organizations serving racialized communities, 2SLGBTQI+, and other underrepresented individuals.
The initiative also aims to incorporate technological advancements and partnerships to deliver services more efficiently while maintaining high-quality support. Service provider organizations are essential in welcoming newcomers, including refugees, in communities in al over the country. They equip newcomers with tools, resources, and information necessary for success in Canada, covering language training, job assistance, and fostering connections with established immigrants, Canadians, and Indigenous Peoples. These services not only help newcomers integrate but also contribute to building inclusive communities for employers, schools, and other organizations.
